This weekend I went to Sydney child and husband free to spend the weekend with Judy and Kate and Chris.
My weekend fun started by dropping my phone while I was waiting to board the bus and shattering my screen, not a good beginning. Luckily the rest of the trip went smoothly and we made plans to drop my phone off first thing the next morning at the Apple Store.
Kate and Chris have an apartment in a flash little area outside of Sydney called Little Bay. We took a walk down to the beach Saturday morning and I spent the whole time staring at all the fancy houses and the renovated Prince Henry (Coast) Hospital along the way. Coast Hospital has been turned into apartments and community centres while keeping the charm and beauty of the 1880s.
The beach is gorgeous and has nice calm waves which will be perfect for us to bring Ev to. After a nice morning stroll we headed to Bondi Junction to fix my phone and do a bit more shopping than we should.
Saturday evening Kate and Chris went out to celebrate their anniversary at Icebergs on Bondi Beach leaving Judy and I on babysitting duties. Luckily Macy slept really well while we were there and when she did wake up Nana (Judy) was all over it so I still have a few more months before I have to remember what to with a fussy newborn.
Sunday morning was another beautiful day so we took another walk around, this time exploring a bit more of the old hospital grounds before Kate, Judy and I got ready to go to the Babyology High Tea, the main reason Judy and I had chosen that weekend to go down. The tea was arranged by a popular baby website in the fancy Intercontinental Hotel in Double Bay, more flash coastal suburbs. It was held in the ballroom of the hotel and would have had around 230 people at each of the two sittings they had on Sunday.
The only drawback of the day was that Kate had to leave about halfway through to go home and feed Macy who wasn’t taking the bottle, of course by the time she got almost home Macy took the bottle but what can you do.
After the shower Judy and I packed up and headed out to give Kate and Chris the apartment back to themselves and give us a chance to wander through Ikea before heading back to Canberra. You’d think we wouldn’t feel the need with our Ikea opening in a month but we just can’t seem to make it past the store without stopping in.
You’re probably wondering what the tiny child and hubby got up to while I was off gallivanting for the weekend. It amounts to, not a whole lot. Ev was a bit sick so they spent most of the weekend changing nappies, taking walks and just hanging out. Paul and Mike stopped by for a bbq Saturday night where Ev was excited to be spoiled with ice cream. And Sunday was a day of groceries followed by an afternoon of hydrolite ice pops, jalapeno poppers and The Lion King.
All-in-all pleasant weekends all around and everyone was glad to be back together Sunday night. Now we’ll just through this week of work before it’s a fun weekend again 🙂
