The past few weeks have been a blur of activity. At work we were getting ready for and then running Orientation Week for Semester 1, always the busiest time of year for us.
Once that was complete I had to quickly finish my handover and a few documents and reports since I won’t go back to work until January. The managers in my division took me out for lunch and my team/floor threw me a great going away tea so it was nice that everyone’s guess was wrong and I didn’t go in to labour early.
Of course, now we’re waiting. I thought I’d be lucky to get one week to relax, make sure the car seat installed before we were at the hospital and fill the freezer.
Because we don’t know when anything is going to actually happen we can’t plan anything, and it’s been over 30* every day so I can’t even take Coops for walks. Luckily Ev has stayed in daycare so I’m not chasing her around in the heat.
Last Friday we were able to do an evening out with Will and Pip at the Enlightened Night Noodle Market. Enlightened is an event that takes place every year projecting light displays on to various museums and buildings, like Old Parliament House and the National Library. The noodle market was added last year and consists of a large number of Asian food stalls, some local some coming from Sydney. It has a great atmosphere and very tasty food. A fun evening for all of us and a good time to get out of the house.
