Monday was the 4th of July and I have been looking forward to sharing this with Andrew and the kids since I found out we were coming over. I have loved celebrating the 4th in NH since I was a little girl and little has changed since then.
Events began the day before with our neighbours outstanding yearly fireworks display. We settled into the dock and enjoyed the almost 45 minute long show. Some others on the lakes did fireworks as well but nothing compares to this. Ev was a bit scared at first but was loving it by the end sitting safely in Andrew’s lap.
The 4th started with a pancake breakfast run by the Lions Club in the school gym. Mom had a great time watching Ethan and Ev play on the steps of her old middle school after breakfast.
With full stomachs Andrew and PJ ran the local 5km before meeting up with us to check out the town festivities including a book fair, a local band playing patriotic musics and various food, craft and garage sale type stalls.
We loaded up with french fries, onion rings and burgers, because why not, and headed to our seats to join everyone for the parade.
It was quite a show. Between the early start and the heat we were ready to hide out at The Cottage for the rest of the day.
